Mike Cressy Needs Our Help!

Super Alphabet is a beautifully illustrated ABC book by author, illustrator Mike Cressy
Here's a man on a mission and backing is the name of the game. My friend Mike has started publishing his line of children's books through his own company, JetPak Studio. And this one is destined to become a classic. He's done an extraordinary job on the front and back cover, so bright and fun. I love it!

Clare's Backyard Pool Party!

Clare had such a good time in the water yesterday we wanted to do it again but things didn't work out quite the way we'd planned.
The river was raging.
She wouldn't be jumping in that.
It wasn't a very calming atmosphere and she seemed a little stressed. It could have been the noise.
Everything seemed so hard and rushed. Her ears and these flowers were about the softest things around.
We tried to drive up to Cultus Lake but the traffic was horrendous. I guess everyone had the same idea. We sat in the hot car for hours. It's a good thing I wet her down in a quiet part of the river before we started for home.
She was very happy to be back in her own backyard. Especially when we set up her pool.
Then she played,
and played,
and played
for the whole afternoon and hardly got her back wet at all. Silly girl.

Clare's Big Day at the Beach!

I don't have a lot to say except that it was a gorgeous day at the beach today!
Beautiful wild sweet peas lined the path.

There were sailboats, field flowers,
and kites of all kinds.
This one looks like a hawk or maybe a pheasant.
But the best fun was watching Clare brave the ocean for the first time in her pampered little life.
There was tons of hesitation in the beginning.
And she spent a lot of her time watching the other dogs play before she'd give it a try.
Of course once she got the hang of it, there was no getting her out of the water. She's a Labrador, after all, though she is scared of ducks since one quacked really loud at her when she was a pup.
And a quiet little girl, she always leaves when other dogs start barking too loud.
It was such fun seeing her so happy. Not that she's not happy but that she was being doggish.
Trying something different, acting like a real dog. She seems very human and copies us all the time.  Maybe she's very ape. She hasn't started eating with utensils yet but does go get her blanket to share when one of us is feeling bad.
She's flaked out on the floor right now, dreaming about the ocean, is my guess.
Sweet dreams everyone.

Tale of the Black Mamba

Well, I'm finally ready to self publish. Here's the cover I've designed, front and back for my YA novel,
Tale of the Black Mamba
I'm so excited about the whole process of finally publishing my own book. There's still a lot of work to do but I'll be launching very soon. I really hope you and the children in your life will enjoy this high adventure story.

Here's a quote from the book:
"Sometimes from birth, the darkness in a man's soul is so riddled with spores, all that is left him is to incubate evil. In the same way vultures hover over the bleak remains of dying creatures, greed and cruelty hunch themselves atop the blades of this man's shoulders in anticipation of a feast."

Sounds scary but my freelance editor Jacquie Argent loved the book, calling it a comic romp. If you want to read more click on the image to enlarge it and read the rest.

Anchors Aweigh, My Boys, Anchors Aweigh

A beautiful day for Ensign Busby Edgewater.
Sleeping seagulls at White Rock Beach.
Busby created quite a stir while posing on the boardwalk.
Jumping for joy that he finally has a shirt--and a cute little handmade boat to play with.
Balancing on driftwood to keep his feet dry, Busby wishes his mother had also knitted him a pair of boots or at least made him a bigger boat.
Busby believes barnacles make a very complimentary backdrop if ever he wanted to go by the name of Barnacle Buzz, the Sailor.
Fun in the sun and Ensign Busby Edgewater is ready to ship out.

Calling All Ensigns!

The state of my patio today. Wont be long now. David kind of got side tracked because the neighbours asked him to help build a fence. It'll be so nice to have a fence too. I wasn't expecting that.
A bit of inspiration to help me finish my latest order. This guy's a little bigger than my usual rabbits.
I thought he should have a boat so I'm carving one out of sculpey while I watch the new fence go up and dream about my patio.
I think I'd better quit fiddling. Sculpey's pretty soft stuff and I don't want to wreck it. I've already done that, twice.
Here it is ready for the oven. A little paint, some sanding and presto, a toy boat! Say that three times fast.
The latest member of the Rare Rabbits crew:
Ensign Busby Edgewater

With a cozy hug from little sister Bella, Busby hopes his mother doesn't forget his shirt before he ships out. Also, a big believer of the insights of Winnie the Pooh, Busby tells Bella...

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together...there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, if we're apart. I'll always be with you. -- Winnie the Pooh.

And your brother, Busby.
