New Pumpkin Carving

I'm quite pleased with my new work of art. My reference photo was Don Knotts.
Not even close! But I love him!

Pumpkin Carving

I've been working, working all summer and haven't had time to do anything.
But last week I thought I'd try my hand at pumpkin carving. I made these guys for the market.
I watched a pumpkin carving tutorial by Ray Villafane. He's amazing! Here are the first two pumpkins I carved.
Then I tried a third. He turned out pretty well, except he was hard as a rock and it took me ten hours.
I was really pleased with him so I took him to work to sit with the other two.

It just happened to be the day of the Giant Pumpkin-Weigh In at Krause Berry Farms

And guess what! After it was over my boss gave me a giant pumpkin to carve.
It took six men to move this 800 pounder into position. The winner that day was over 1400 pounds.
Here are my tools. I had to carve it by memory because my I Pad wasn't working for me to refer back to the tutorial.
Hmm, seems a little crazy from this angle.
There, much happier! It's taken from below looking up. Well at least he won't be scary to short people. Come to Krause Berry Farms and check him out and enter the
Name the Pumpkin-Head contest!

Chilliwack River

David and I went up to see the kids today while they were camping at Chilliwack Lake. Here's David with their dog Deisel. He's a sweetie, the dog, I mean.
On the way back we stopped at the river so I could get some human touch shots because that's what the prompt was in Kim Klassen's studio. Photos with a human touch. If I'd remembered I should have taken my daughter Tina's hands. She has beautiful hands.
Here I am minding my own business taking pics of my feet. Not very original but I'm way behind, so feet it is.
Then suddenly this guy comes flying down the rapids. I didn't even see him till he was right in front of my camera. So I clickety clicked and got him. Pretty lucky. Never had that happen before.
My human touch photos.

Summer Cherries!

I'm so far behind in Kim Klassen's course but I finally got a chance to take some photos. Even though the "Ladders" prompt has come and gone, I thought I'd try it anyway cause I like ladders.
I wanted to take some cherry shots before they're all gone. The weather's been so beautiful all the  fruit and berries are a few weeks early this year.

Strawberries & Roses

It was cloudy today but I'm happy with how these turned out in spite of the weather.
A little bit of sun peeked through on this one.
I love the roses, they're so pretty.

Columbine

I'm back to work full time which means I haven't had a lot of time for picture taking. I'm also back to using my old camera. Boy, I can sure see the difference. And not in a good way.
These are Columbines from my garden.

Potting Bench

This week's prompt for Kim Klassen's course is a, Potting Bench.
I didn't have one so I absconded with my husband's beautiful old scaffolding plank and placed it over two black iron flower urns to use for my setup.
I think it worked out pretty good.
I had way too many photos to choose from and I'm still not sure if I picked the right ones to edit and upload here.
I'm sure if I go back and look I'll find a whole swack of different ones I should have edited.
I'll probably edit a few more in the next couple of days and post them as well.

Toast and Sunshine

It's been really nice having such lovely sunny days to shoot outside.
But I think I may have started too late in the day.
Don't know if I got what I was looking for.
Oh well, it's all practise. And I enjoyed myself, so I guess that's what counts.
