Living the Dream

Velvet fantasizes about an exciting life as an Easter Bunny.

She longs to move to Easter Island, grow her ears long, run naked on the beach, eat chocolate salad and paint eggs for a living.

Florence in Spring

Meet Florence. My daughter named her. These little rabbits just don't seem finished unless they have a name. At first I was naming them in secret thinking people might want to choose their own name (and because I worried they might think me crazy). But I was wrong and naming them has become a request with my customers. What a nice surprise.

I finished her last night and photographed her this morning. Even though it was raining when I snapped this photo I was still able to use the lessons I learned in class to produce a much brighter image. I think she looks adorable! But I see as I write, the sun has decided to poke its head through the clouds. Grrr.

My friend commented, "They're so cute! How can you stand to part with them?" I don't think I will ever stop loving the bunnies I create, but it gives me such pleasure to know they will bring a smile to someone's face, besides mine.

Coral Even Outshines the Flowers

Well, another bunny done. Two down and three to go. A group of five going to my dear friend Lisa, who owns Strung Out On Beads, a lovely bead shop in my town. She's been patiently waiting forever and now that school is over I can devote most of my time to them. Although, I've just started a fabulous  E-course by Decor8 and I love it.

The Friday class was on photography, taught by the sweet and talented Leslie Shewring of A Creative Mint. I thought I could compose a pretty picture using some of the techniques I learned by adding some flowers, but little Coral here turned out to be a lot brighter than I thought. I can see I have a long way to go. I better study that class again.

This rabbit was great fun to make and the funny thing is, none of these little bunnies ever turn out the way I think they're going to.  Always something happens at the end where they sort of pick their own style, demand it even. Stubborn little beasties.

Braving the Snowman

Valentina loves the snow and all the fun that goes along with it, silly snowmen in funny hats.

And watching kookoo dogs named Clare who don't understand and bark at flower arms and floating chip bags.

I, on the other hand hate the snow--and the cold--and the wet and the--yuk! Blah, I'd rather do my taxes.  Moan, groan. But really wish I was knitting.

Bunny Jumble

I don't know why I'm having such a hard time posting to my blog. I think I'm afraid. Afraid it's not interesting enough, afraid of sticking my beak out and falling flat on my face. Afraid, afraid, afraid. A big fat chicken, that's what I am. Well, at the risk of sounding boring I think I'll talk a bit about what I've been doing.

I got my Etsy shop up, although the shelves are bare. Knitting is time comsuming. But the banner's cute.

I also managed to create an Amazon Bookstore for my website. Meaning a person can purchase books from Amazon through it.

I added my Redbubble Shop to the greeting cards section of my website. I'm waiting for the nice weather to take more photos.

I joined a few groups on LinkedIn to see if I can find people who enjoy the same things I do. I'm feeling a little lost at the moment, sort of like my bunny jumble up there. And it's down to days to see if I made it through to round 2 of the novel writing contest. That's about it for now, little Clare needs a run in the woods (so do I).

CONTEST MANUSCRIPT SECURED

Here's a beautiful image of Niagara Falls I plucked from the internet. I would love to have plastered my book title across the front but that wouldn't be right, for many reasons. I would also love to include my submission pitch to this post, not to mention my excerpt, just for the sheer delight that somebody might read it, like it and tell me so. But since the whole thing's a big secret for the judging, I can't say a word. Though I've already blabbed my book title half way across the internet, I'm sure nobody'll notice. The odds of anybody ever connecting me to my submission is highly unlikely. The only thing I can safely say about my YA novel is:

XXXXX is a darkly comic story that challenges the bonds of family loyalty, love and power. With a knack for the zany, XXXXX transports the reader into an action-packed adventure they won’t soon forget, a hilarious farce sure to capture imaginations and funny bones alike.

Pretty generic, I think I'm safe.

Prayer for the day:
Oh great universal mother (cause I know you're a woman therefore sacrificial lambs do not apply) please deliver me into the loving arms of round two heaven. Amen.
