Lily of the Valley

Oh boy! The Lily of the valley are up!

I absolutely adore these flowers. They smell so gorgeous! 

Took them out to the garden along with my darling sugar pot today. These two are sitting on an old moss covered stump with a tree growing on the top that years ago just seeded itself there. It's not part of the stump it's a different tree altogether and has lovely roots that cling down the sides of the stump to hold on. Don't know how it's getting any nutrients but I guess the stump must be giving it something. I should have pulled it out when it started. First it was so tiny and harmless and cute, then suddenly 25 years has passed and that cute little sprig is huge. 

These pretty guys are another favourite of mine, Spiraea. I think the spot is too shady or I haven't trimmed it enough because it doesn't have a lot of flowers. It's kind of spindly but I love the way it adds to the beauty of the stump, all loose and gangly. 

Just a little experiment in Black and White. 

Rabbit Hood Tea Cozy

 Just finished knitting my Rabbit Hood tea cozy and thought I'd include her today along with the pretty pink cup I bought. 

Wasn't a very sunny day and it was hard to get some good shots. 

But I have to say, I do so love making these little rabbit tea cozies.  

 I made a tiny leaf and flower to attach to her hat. It's knitted using embroidery thread and has a lovely beaded centre. She also wears a cord around her waist with beaded raspberries on the ends.  

She goes well with my blue chair. I'm pretty sure I love the colour blue.

Experimenting with sayings for some postcards I'd like to get printed.  

Maybe not all of them because I don't know if something like this portrait format is right for a postcard. I sure hope it is, cause I love this one. 

Could be that some of them don't need words.

Rose Bowl & Blue Chair

 Took another round of blue chair photos because I thought I would try and create some kind of a theme for myself. I was hoping to get my flower shots printed as post cards to sell. 

I went to a garage sale today and found this beautiful old metal bowl that I thought would be just perfect for my project. 

Not sure which one or two I'll pick. I'm trying to change my preference from portrait style shots to landscape because when I uploaded my images to the printing site the portraits were cut off a lot. 

I guess the preferred shot is landscape for post cards. 

I kind of like this one. There's something about a close up that always attracts me. 

Blue Chair in the Garden

Still working on the 'One Thing" prompt. And my one thing, in case you haven't guessed is my lovely blue chair. 

This photo shoot was not the one I had in mind. It started off with me wanting white lilacs that are waaay out of reach in my tree.  

 

All I could find to get at them was a broken ladder and some rusty tools.

Here's the scary part where I stood on my chair to get to the third rung on the ladder that wasn't broken and started sawing a large high branch. 

 When I was done I realized my rickety old ladder and rusty saw looked pretty nice, so I added to it. A little nest here, some bluebells there...

I'm nothing if not determined. 

All for the love of lilacs.

Blue Dandelions

I think these turned out beautifully.

I stacked both of these textures over my photos to achieve the effect. 

 So here is the Pussy Willows texture I was working on and finished last night.  Washing a few more layers of paint overtop brought a wonderful richness to it. 

This texture is called Meadow Grunge and I think it added a nice warm glow.
